Let the Wood Turning Begin

Another busy weekend in the workshop. I prepped these blanks ready to start a big run of wood turned items. These will become salad servers, cake lifts, ice cream scoops, pizza cutters and a range of different knife handles.

Wood turning is something I’m relatively new at, but certainly enjoy the process. Most satisfying is the ability to take a blank and turn it into a finished product so quickly. It’s also a great way to show off the grain and variety across different timbers, with one of my favourite being Hairy Oak. Shown below is a bottle stopper I turned last year in Hairy Oak. Its such a beautiful timber ranging from deep browns to light pinks. It’s a timber I wish I had a lot more of!
